Its bolstering business time at Canon, as the company looks to appoint more than 20 new partners - mostly top notch system integrators both at national and state levels - to help it push into old and newer business segments. Recently the company introduced 24 new products and entry into the security surveillance market. The company now plans to take a solutions approach and wants partners who can sell the whole gamut of enterprise products going from printers to surveillance cameras. That is why it is now looking at partners with high technical capabilities. It has already appointed 21 SIs at the national level including Wipro, Dell, HCL security. At the state level it has picked 20 partners including Iris Computers. The target at this level is 45 SIs.

Sharing the qualities which company is looking in their distributors, VP Sajeevan, Assistant Director, Consumer System Products Division, Canon India, said, The prime thing is expertise. What they have been doing in last three years. We are looking these SIs for government and big projects so selection will be done accordingly. These SIs will accommodate all the Canon products form printing to surveillance. In fact Sajeevan points out that SI's with a connect with government selling will have an upper hand as Canon is also focussing on the government vertical in a big way.

Currently the company has 67 products in the IT peripherals portfolio and 10 new products in the security space. It has increased its market share in laser printer market to 41%, and registered an over all growth of 58% in the printer division.
